A Mercearia Sao Roque

The Bar Mercearia Sao Roque completed 20 years of success in 2010, won several palm trees and new lighting, leaving the house even more cozy.
The rest of the house remains the same: decoration made with demolition materials such as large windows, tinted glasses, grills and the traditional marble counter.

Art in Mercearia: Since 2008, the bar presents art exhibitions curated by Black Linhares.

The environment has made the house earned the “Award for Best Bar”, and its menu with delicious breguetes are responsible for the” Best Snack Award” of Go Where Gastronomy magazine:

“The Mercearia Sao Roque was established in 1946 by Mr. Alberto, a portuguese trader. It was even a grocery store (mercearia), in its broadest sense – on the corner of Rua Amauri, by that time the street was almost a desert alley at the Jardins neighborhood. The grocery worked for 40 years. In 90′s, young entrepreneurs have made a proposal to acquire the establishment. Soon, keeping the name, they turned it into a bar-restaurant that became a reference bar in Sao Paulo that serves both a great business lunch as fulfills its classic function in the evening – a nice place for a happy hour, fueled by beer pints and wonderful snacks. Therefore, the Mercearia Sao Roque is doubly rewarded in the competition GW Gastronomy: best bar and best snacks in town there called Breguetes.”
